TERMS OF SERVICE — ANIMOLast updated: July 2026Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Animo ("the App"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.1. THE APPAnimo is a mobile game that uses your device's step-tracking sensor to power in-app gameplay, including hatching, growing, and collecting virtual companions. The App is provided by Aizu Labs ("we," "us," or "our").2. ELIGIBILITYYou must be able to form a binding contract to use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use the App and to make any in-app purchases.3. ACCOUNTSThe App automatically creates an anonymous account for you when you first open it — no personal sign-up is required. You may optionally link this account using "Sign in with Apple" to enable cloud backup and restore. You are responsible for maintaining access to any account you link, and for all activity that occurs under it.4. IN-APP PURCHASESThe App offers optional in-app purchases of virtual currency ("Star Shards"), a premium pass, and other virtual items, processed through Apple's App Store and our payment partner, RevenueCat. All purchases are final and non-refundable except where required by applicable law or Apple's own refund policies. Virtual currency and items have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and may only be used within the App.5. VIRTUAL ITEMS AND ACCOUNT DELETIONVirtual companions, currency, and items exist only within the App and are licensed to you for use within the App, not owned by you as property. If you delete your account (available at any time under Settings > Account Management), all virtual companions, currency, and purchase history associated with that account are permanently and irreversibly erased.6. ACCEPTABLE USEYou agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App or its underlying systems
- Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities to gain an unfair advantage, artificially inflate currency, or bypass purchase validation
- Interfere with other players' use of the App, including through the friends or leaderboard features
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to simulate steps or gameplay activityWe reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App for any account found to be in violation of these Terms.7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTYThe App, including its design, artwork, companion designs, code, and all related content, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or branding.8. THIRD-PARTY SERVICESThe App relies on third-party services (including Apple, RevenueCat, Supabase, PostHog, and Sentry) to operate certain features, as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the availability or performance of these third-party services.9. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIESThe App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs, and we do not guarantee any specific health, fitness, or step-tracking accuracy outcomes from using the App.10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITYTo the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including loss of virtual items, currency, or progress, whether due to bugs, account deletion, service interruption, or any other cause.11. CHANGES TO THE APP AND THESE TERMSWe may update, modify, or discontinue features of the App at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.12. TERMINATIONWe may suspend or terminate your access to the App at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms, without liability to you for any resulting loss of virtual items, currency, or progress.13. GOVERNING LAWThese Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles.14. Privacy Policy
PRIVACY POLICY — ANIMOLast updated: July 2026This Privacy Policy explains what information Animo ("the App") collects, how it's used, and your choices regarding that information.1. INFORMATION WE COLLECTAccount Information
Animo creates an anonymous account for you automatically when you first open the app — no sign-up, email, or personal details are required to play. If you choose to link your account via "Sign in with Apple" (an optional feature used to back up and restore your progress on a new device), we receive the identifier Apple provides for that sign-in.Step and Motion Data
Animo uses your device's built-in motion sensor (via Apple's Core Motion framework) to count your steps. Step counts are used entirely to power in-app gameplay — hatching eggs, leveling up companions, and earning in-game currency. We do not collect your location, route, or GPS data at any point.Purchase Information
If you make an in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple and our payment partner, RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of what was purchased and your anonymous account identifier so we can grant the correct in-game rewards. We do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple.Usage and Analytics Data
We use PostHog, a third-party analytics service, to understand how the app is used in aggregate (for example, which features are used most, or where players tend to stop playing) so we can improve the game. This data is tied to your anonymous account identifier, not your real name or contact details.Crash and Error Reports
We use Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service, to automatically receive reports when the app crashes or encounters an error, so we can fix bugs. These reports may include technical details about your device (model, OS version) and the state of the app at the time of the error.Push Notification Data
If you enable notifications, we store a device-specific notification token so we can send you reminders about your companion's care needs or your daily streak. You can disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings or your device's system settings.2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATIONWe use the information above solely to:
- Operate and maintain core gameplay features
- Process in-app purchases
- Diagnose and fix bugs and crashes
- Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the app
- Send optional care and streak reminder notifications
- Back up and restore your progress, if you choose to link an accountWe do not sell your information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICESAnimo relies on the following third-party services, each of which processes certain data on our behalf under their own privacy terms:
- Supabase (account authentication and game data storage)
- RevenueCat (in-app purchase processing)
- Apple (App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple, push notifications)
- PostHog (usage analytics)
- Sentry (crash and error reporting)4. DATA RETENTION AND DELETIONYou can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app, under Settings > Account Management > Delete Account & Start Over. This immediately erases your companions, progress, and purchase history from our servers and signs you out. This action cannot be undone.5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACYAnimo does not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described in this policy (an anonymous account identifier and gameplay data). We do not require or request a name, email address, or other personally identifying information to play, unless you voluntarily choose to link an Apple ID.6. YOUR RIGHTSDepending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. Since Animo does not collect personally identifying information by default, most of these rights can be exercised directly through the in-app account deletion feature described above. For any other request, contact us using the details below.7. CHANGES TO THIS POLICYWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.8.
